CNYSBA Issue Advocacy Conference & Workshop

Given the especially critical fiscal issues confronting us all in 2013, school districts and members of their communities need to act as effective advocates in conveying their concerns to those that represent them in the state Senate and Assembly.

This conference will consist of two sessions:

  • To provide attendees with in-depth data and information about the key fiscal issues facing our schools and communities in 2013.
  • A workshop on how to develop and implement advocacy efforts to effectively convey your concerns to elected representatives.

Dr. Rick Timbs, Executive Director of the Statewide School Finance Consortium, will lead the conference. He will be joined by community members from the Auburn School District who have developed and implemented actual community advocacy efforts that have successfully raised the profile of these issues in their areas and created meaningful dialogue with community stakeholders, local media and – most importantly – their state legislators.

Our objectives for this training:

  • Enhance the effectiveness of our Legislative Breakfasts the following two weeks.
  • Establish and maintain local advocacy efforts through the state budget process and Legislative session.

There is no charge for this conference. ALL CNYSBA school board members, Superintendents and other district administrators are invited to attend.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for further, specific information about this conference and the Legislative Breakfasts.
